James Thurber wrote many short stories which he features in his book The Thurber Carnival. In his book he writes about his child hood past and present day. He saw many changes in his life, like when cars were invented, he could barely drive it in anyways. In some of his stories he made it look like it was a mystery or something with ghosts, and they were never scary they were funny. The setting in this book has a mood, location and time, and a plot and characters.
There are an infinite amount of moods set in this book, mostly family memoirs which tend to be hilarious, political and literary which he commented on very much. He also had dilemmas, fantasies, poems, cartoons, tributes, pictures sequences, and many more that I can't begin to list and classify. One could say that James got his humor from his mother, whom could have inspired him to write comedy.
James was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1894 and died in 1961. He lived there most of his life with his brother, his hilarious mother, and his grandfather who is even more old fashioned than he is, he also lived in the attic. His family did at one point moved around a lot. In this book James wrote most of his stories in Ohio, whom some say was when and where his best writings came from.
